This web site is a work-in-progress and additional information will be added on a regular basis. Please visit often.

The purpose of this web site is to provide you with ready access to vital information about two critically important INTER-RELATED and CO-DEPENDENT projects:

  • The first is the pending construction of costly and wide-spread centralized water and sewer lines in Bethel Township; public water and sewer are necessary in order for intensive development of the township to take place.
  • The second is the revision of our current Land Use Plan.  The current plan protects us from massive development, whereas the proposed changes open  the door for intensive development to take place.

The trustees do not want to discuss the financial ramifications or the long term consequences of constructing centralized sewer and water to our quality of life. To discuss the proposed Development Plan without full disclosure of the sewer and water agreement(s) denies residents critical information.

As of July 2, 2009, a new steering committee is being convened to make some changes to the proposed Development Plan. However, apart from full disclosure of the sewer and water plan, revising the Development Plan is little more than putting lipstick on a pig; it may look a little better, but it's still a pig and in this case it will eat your wallet if you let it.

Likewise, changing  the Development Plan to make it seem more attractive makes about as much sense as re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic; it wouldn't have addressed the structural problem - a hole in the hull of the ship. In the present case, the hole in the ship IS the plan for CENTRALIZED WATER AND SEWER SERVICE. Do not allow yourself to be distracted from the main issue which is the proposed sewer and water agreement.

Remember, land use plans get changed every three to five years; the recently adopted sewer and water agreement and the intense development that it will bring is a fifty year binding contract that you, your children, and your grandchildren will be forced to live with.

The current land use plan must be changed because it is incompatible with centralized sewer and water and the changes they will bring. If the proposed land use plan is adopted, Bethel Township will dramatically change, property rights will diminish, and our collective wallets will shrink (except for the few that will financially benefit from the proposed changes).

We have done our homework, but we are not asking you to take our word for anything. Instead, you can read copies of the original documents for yourself and come to your own conclusions.

Oftentimes, proponents label their critics as uninformed and reactionary and label their views as misunderstanding, supposition, distortion, etc. Therefore, to preclude such a response to the information made available on this site, and to foster constructive debate of the facts as presented in public records, this site will contain what normally would be considered an excessive amount of links. The goal is to equip you to quickly find the information that will enable you to draw your own conclusions regarding what the trustees have planned for Bethel Township.

You are invited to email us with questions or requests for documentation that is pertinent to the preservation or development debate. If you note an error, please point it out; my spelling skills are far better than my typing ability. In addition, rebuttal is absolutely welcome -- providing that supporting documentation is included.

This website was put up to make public records available to our fellow residents and before the decision to run for public office had been made. Accordingly, it was never intended to serve as a campaign website. In addition, there is nothing on this site that encourages individuals to vote for Diana Fessler or Kama Dick. Even so, to error on the side of caution, as of today, October 16, 2009, a "paid for by" statement has been added.

Paid for by: Committee to Elect Diana Fessler, 7530 Ross Rd., New Carlisle, OH 45344; D. Fessler Treasurer;
and Committee to Elect Kama Dick, 7575 US 40, New Carlisle, OH 45344, K. Dick, Treasurer
